FLEECE SHOW AND SALE

4th Annual Iowa Sheep & Wool Festival

June 14 – 15, 2008

Dallas County Fairgrounds ~ Adel, Iowa

Methods of handling fleeces available to producers:

  1. Fleeces entered in competition and placed for sale
  2. Fleeces consigned for sale.
  3. Fleeces entered in competition only.

Fleece Standards:

Fleeces must be from the current (2007-2008) wool crop and represent no more than 15 months growth. Each fleece must be clean, free of chaff, burrs, tags and second cuts, and must not have been processed in any way.  They must be skirted and in a clear plastic garbage bag. Any fleece judged to be excessively dirty will be disqualified.  The policy of the Festival is to be a broker, to make fleeces available to the spinners, and to provide a market for the producers. Producers are responsible for the accuracy of their entry forms. Producers are urged to be selective in the fleeces they enter and reasonable in the prices they set.

Anyone entering two or more fleeces must have one for sale.

Fees and Schedule

Entry fees are $3 per fleece entered for competition only and $3 per fleece consigned for sale only; the fee is $5.00 per fleece consigned for both show and sale. The initial bid price of the fleeces will be set by the producers. The ISIA commission on all fleeces will be 10% for ISIA members whose dues are current as of June 14 and 20% for non-members.
