8th Annual Iowa Sheep & Wool Festival

Hall of Breeds

Dallas County Fairgrounds, Adel

June 9-10, 2012

The Hall of Breeds will be a display of a variety of wool and meat breeds of sheep. The following guidelines and information is available for those breeders wishing to exhibit in the Hall of Breeds at the 8th Annual Iowa Sheep & Wool Festival.

Ø       The Festival will provide one pen per breed.

Ø       Up to six sheep per pen will be allowed.

Ø       The Festival will provide the sign describing the breed. The exhibitor may hang signs with contact information and stock for sale.

Ø       Private treaty sales of these sheep will be allowed but at least two sheep must remain in the display until the end of the festival on Sunday.

Ø       Any shearing must be done prior to arrival at the Dallas County Fairgrounds.

Ø       For protection of all livestock at the festival, we will follow the rules set forth by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship for Disease Control at Fairs and Exhibits.

Ø      A certificate of Veterinary Inspection must have been issued within 14 days prior to the date of entry to the Festival and will be required at arrival on the fairgrounds.

Ø       All sexually intact sheep must be identified with an individual scrapie flock of origin identification tag; this number must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.

Ø       Exhibitors must provide their own feed, bedding and water buckets.

Ø       After the Festival, exhibitors need to clean their pen/pens and place the bedding in the roll-off dumpster that is provided – Thank You!

Ø       The Exhibitor will receive two gate passes for each day (June 9-10, 2012) and as a “Thank-you,” will also receive two $5.00 coupons to be used at the Iowa Sheep Industry Association’s Lamb Foodstand on either June 9 or 10, 2012.
